“I have nothing to wear.”
“I have nothing to wear.”
Most of the time, that sentence doesn’t actually mean what we think it does.
We’re usually standing in front of a wardrobe full of clothes.
The problem is… they all require strategy.
This one shows every line.
That one is slightly see-through.
This fabric clings.
Those trousers hug the hips more than expected.
Suddenly each outfit comes with conditions.
And while we love the idea of strategy, humans aren’t great at making endless small decisions.
So the outfits we bought because they were cute often sit in the wardrobe waiting for a “future moment” — when we have the patience to figure them out.
Instead, most of us default to routine.
Wear the same things.
Take the same route to work.
Eat the same lunch.
Routine protects mental bandwidth.
But when it comes to getting dressed, there’s a layer we rarely talk about.
The one underneath.
Because many outfit problems aren’t actually clothing problems.
They’re underwear problems.
Lines.
Digging elastic.
Underwear that works with one outfit but not the next.
Which means every outfit requires a new calculation.
But if the foundation layer works across multiple outfits, something interesting happens.
You stop changing what’s underneath.
And suddenly you can change what’s on top.
Sometimes wardrobe strategy isn’t about buying more clothes.
It’s about fixing the first layer.
